Hi! I am Aniruddh
I am currently a senior at the University of Washington Seattle majoring in Bioengineering with minors in Entrepreneurship and Applied Math. I am also a part of the interdisciplinary honors college at UW. I am passionate about stem cell therapy and developing clinical applications for it in the near future. Welcome to my leadership portfolio and I hope you enjoy reading! Starting with my core values: |
Resilience- Coming back stronger after setbacks
Through my college career, I have learned that facing setbacks is a part of life and the more important thing is how you face adversity rather than the challenge itself. I feel this has been really important for me in my research career since it is very rare that things go exactly how I planned and facing failure and then coming back stronger has been essential in moving forward.
Persistence- Not giving up
In a way similar to resilience, it is also very important to be able to get through the hard times, I must persist. To me persistence is the spirit of not giving up and keep going even when doing so seems very challenging and giving up is the easier way to go.
Reflection- Taking a step back and thinking what you do and why
In our busy lives, we often focus too much on the what and how and forget the why part of doing things. Therefore, I believe that it is essential to take a step back from time to time and think about why we are doing what we are doing. This really helps me think about my actions and my ‘why?’ which helps me guide my future actions and initiatives.
Imagination- Thinking, but after breaking away from physical and mental boundaries
To do the impossible, you need to imagine the impossible. I believe that imagination is essential to think out of the box and develop novel solutions to problems that we currently face. Having a big imagination not only lets me come up with creative ways to develop solutions but also helps me find problems that may have previously gone unnoticed.
Teamwork- Working with other people, both like and unlike you
I think teamwork is essential to achieve big goals and dreams. You cannot do everything on your own and often things are much better done in teams. I believe that teamwork is the ability to work with others, both like you and unlike you.
The leadership identities I relate the most to include independent research scholar, solution maker and active mentorship. I feel that these identities define my work and my drive very well in addition to strongly relating to my overall goals.
Independent research scholar
Why?
My goal is to make stem cell therapies a clinical reality and develop these to the point they are accessible and can be used to treat diseases we know us uncurable. I am driven by discovery and curiosity, and the desire to solve problems that plague us mankind.
Future Goals:
In the future, I want to complete a PhD in Bioengineering with a focus on stem cell therapy and go on the academia track. My long-term goal is to develop a research and teaching career. I also want to translate my research intro clinical applications and use my work to build a biotech start-up.
